This song started, like all my recent projects as a simple little lo-fi sample. But I‘m specially releasing this song just before I head off to study music production in Spain because it carries the influence of many of artists that first inspired me to start recording and producing music. Without any particular preconceived plan, this song began to sound more and more like the artists I listened to in my middle school and early high school years. I enjoy the thought that it would impressive and meaningful to my past self, and I attribute something sacred to closing those sorts of loops in time—giving the to the present something the past needed, stumbling upon some sense of home you never thought you’d feel again. Making the music you want to hear is always challenging and rarely as rewarding as you hope, but I do hope you find the time to listen and enjoy, and let me know if you do! And I can’t wait to play and record so much more music in the coming year.
